Supervised advance GIS cusotmized projects of GIKI students. Major goal of these GIS projects was to track the postion of vehicles in real time to see and monitor the travelling route of vehicles efficietly using latest technology of GPS.

GPS transmitted data from different vehicles is received at control station and then using GIS customized software using ESRI MapObjects, to manipulate this data to monitor their positions on a Georeferenced Maps and Satelllite images.

GPS data reading in pocket PC and to display this data on maps for different applications to see real time position during traveling of vehicles. 

For advance GIS Applications, working in ESRI “MapObjects” for development and Customization of GIS Applications in real time environment using Visual Basic 6.0. MapObjects Development Platform is Visual Basic 6.0. This is strong Combination of MapObjects and Visual Basic 6.0 for the Development of customized GIS Applications.

• Arcview “Avenue” Scripting Language for the Customization of Arcview GIS, to any Organization requirement and Specification. This Customization environment provides complete Solution for any Organization Graphical and Georeferenced data.

East West Infiniti (Pvt.) Ltd.: (December 2002 to March 2005)

Worked and developed “Advance GIS applications” in East West Infiniti (Pvt.) Ltd. Islamabad, This Organization is working in Communication (Wireless, UHF/VHF, etc) and related fields for defense organizations. Assisted in Developing real time Application “AVL”(Automatic Vehicle Location) and “GPS Mapping”, to create and embed our own maps into GPS, as a GIS Specialist in a team working on these Project.

I completed following projects and my responsibilities in these Projects including;

• Rectification of Satellite images and Maps: Calibration and georeferencing the maps of Provinces of Pakistan and Cities, and Toposheets using GPS field Survey data.

• Mobile Mapping and GPS Survey: Worked on ArcPad 6.0.3 software for Mobile GIS Mapping and advance GPS survey using Pocket PC in field survey. Integrate survey data with different GIS applications and rectification of maps and satellite images.

• Embedded Maps into Mapping GPS: This project is done in Pakistan first time. Our local maps embedded into GPS for the navigation purposes to see the position in real time relative to surrounding geographical features.

• Garmin GPS Models: East West Infiniti (Pvt.) Ltd. is an exclusive distributor of GARMIN GPS in Pakistan, so working on different Models of GARMIN GPS to examine and analyze the functionality and technical demonstration of GPS to different clients. I worked on following models of GARMIN GPS,

• GPS data Integration/Manipulation: Worked on the Software “MapSource Version 4.13” made by GARMIN, and handling the GPS training to clients, to retrieve/load Data from GPS to make waypoints, routes and tracks.
• Spatial Data Preparation of Provinces: Digitization the maps of Provinces, includes the Provinces boundaries, Districts boundaries, main Roads and main Cities, to track the position of vehicle on vector maps.
• Spatial Data Preparation of Cities: Digitization the maps of main Cities including, Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Faisalabad. Detail of these maps including, Residential areas, Commercial areas, Parks and Roads. These maps were digitized to embed into Garmin Mapping GPS.

• DEM Generation: Generation of Digital Elevation Models (DEM), of different areas of Pakistan, to visualize terrain modeling in 3 dimension using advance virtual GIS techniques.

• Satellite Images Mosaics and Data Migration: This is national level huge project, using Landsat TM and ETM satellite images of Pakistan to make Mosaics, Compress these images to ECW and MrSid formats, correct our maps and combine these maps and satellite images.
• Microsoft MapPoint Mapping using database: Worked on software “Microsoft MapPoint 2002”, which is a very powerful to handle data in the form of databases, to manipulate this data geographically. Data created by Microsoft MapPoint 2002 can be loaded into Pocket PC's, Palm-Sized.

? Represented East West Infiniti (Pvt.) Ltd. from dated 17-10-2003 to 19-10-2003 in Pakistan Air Show Exhibition held at Walton Airport Lahore, to demonstrate the complete functionality of Mapping GPS and Aviation GPS related to Passenger Airplane and Fighting Aircraft.

Population Census Organization: (June 2002 to December 2002)

? Worked with Population Census Organization Statistics Division Government of Pakistan and developed a GIS Project to make digital Atlas of Pakistan. This project includes following contents,

• Digitization and Preparation of Spatial Pakistan Map, Provinces Maps, Districts Maps and then database of province Districts and Join and link database.

• Analysis, including Area of population share, Population trend by residence, Population growth, Density, Major cities Population, Homeless population, Sex ratio, Literacy variation, Level of education, Marital status, By Religion population, languages spoken, People holding National Identity cards, Employed and Unemployed population, Drinking water resources.

Freelance Projects: (April 2000 to May 2002)

Worked with different individuals and organizations as a freelance to develop GIS Projects including Land Information System (LIS) of Islamabad F-10 Sector, Preparation of base map of Islamabad and Rawalpindi city, Lahore base map preparation.
 

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS:

Ø      Cities Transportation Research Project: Assisted and completed Rawalpindi and Lahore Cities Transportation Project using GIS with Dr. Murtaza Haidar, Assistant Professor McGill University Canada. Prepared Cities GIS database for this Project to analyze Transportation issues.

Ø      Population Census Research Project: Design and Prepared GIS database of Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation with Dr. Murtaza Haidar, Assistant Professor McGill University Canada. Integrated Population Census Charge boundary, circle boundary of Rawalpindi Tehsil with Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation map. Analyses were made on population data.

Ø      Pakistan Poverty Mapping Research Project: Dr. Murtaza Haidar, Assistant Professor McGill University Canada is planning to do Research on Pakistan Poverty Alleviation using GIS. This research project is under funding approval.

National Projects:

Ø      UN Employees Security Plan: Completed this project with UN for their International and Pakistani Employees security plan using GIS. Employees Houses locations were marked on Maps using GPS. GIS database was developed of Employee’s information, house snaps, Vehicle Snaps, Spouse information.

• Spatial Data Preparation of Provinces: Digitization the maps of Provinces, includes the Provinces boundaries, Districts boundaries, main Roads and main Cities, to track the position of vehicle on vector maps.

Microsoft MapPoint Mapping using database: Worked on software “Microsoft MapPoint 2002”, which is a very powerful to handle data in the form of databases, to manipulate this data geographically.  Data created by Microsoft MapPoint 2002 can be loaded into Pocket PC's, Palm-Sized PC's running Windows CE 2.11 or later, or HPC's running Windows CE 2.0 or later using “Pocket Streets 2002 software” with Microsoft ActiveSync technology version 3.1 or later.

Queries then can be performed basic functions, such as finding a place or address, working with Pushpins, showing or hiding points of interest on the map, and copying a map to other programs, Copying Maps on Your Mobile Device. GPS can also be used to take input data from GPS.

Represented East West Infiniti (Pvt.)
